The 2011 Economic Stimulus Bill was signed into law by President Obama on December 10, 2010. The bill provides significant energy tax credits for energy efficient home improvements made during 2011. Under this bill, USA Insulation is a qualified energy efficient home improvement.
Homeowners installing USA Insulation during 2011 may receive an energy tax credit for 10 percent of the cost, up to $500. These tax credits do not apply to consumers building new homes.
To qualify for the Energy Efficiency Tax Credit, an insulation product must be for the sole purpose of insulating one's home. For example, aluminum siding does not qualify as insulation. A manufacturer's certification is required and the insulation must be expected to last for at least 5 years, or carry a 2-year warranty.
Consumers should keep any receipts and Manufacturer's Certification Statements for tax purposes (IRS Form 5695). The insulation must be 'placed into service' during the taxable years of 2011. You may also visit Energy Star to learn more information about the federal energy tax credits.
There may be other credits and rebates available in your area. Many states, local municipalities and utility companies offer a variety of credits and rebates for energy efficient home improvements. USA Insulation is a qualified product under each of these programs. Contact your local USA Insulation office to learn more about credits and rebates in your area. Our professionals will explain each program and how to qualify
