Rooting for Our "Foam Home"-Town Athletes

Rooting for Our

The U.S. sent 230 athletes to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, representing 38 states from Alaska to Florida! (Yes, Florida has three Winter Olympians). California, Colorado, Minnesota, and New York sent the most. At least they have mountains and snow. We salute all our athletes, but especially those who live where we live!

With headquarters in the Greater Cleveland area, we have locations as far East as our nation‘s capital and as far West as Omaha, Nebraska. The featured product we install is USA Premium Foam Insulation. So we‘ve come to affectionately call the Olympians in and around our locations "Foam Home"-town athletes.

In this post, we want to give special kudos to star Olympic Athletes from the three cities mentioned above, although we have Olympic athletes from just about all our locations.

KELLI STACK: CLEVELAND

Kelli Stack, star center on the Women‘s Olympic Hockey Team, hails from the Cleveland suburb of Brooklyn Heights. She started this year‘s competition by scoring a goal just seconds into the first game, slapping the puck out of the air past the Finnish goaltender. Team USA went on to win the game 3-1. They are expected to challenge Canada for the Gold Medal.Stack played in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver as well. In just five games, she scored 3 goals and had 5 assists. The USA Team went on to win a silver medal, losing to Canada in the gold medal game.

Kelli just turned 26.

ASHLEY WAGNER: METRO WASHINGTON, DC

Ashley Wagner, from the Metro DC area, has already turned in a stellar performance as a member of the Olympic Figure Skating Squad. She helped Team USA win a bronze medal in the team event. As the top-ranked American figure skater, we will see much more of her in the coming days. Ashley is a two-time U.S. National Champion (2012 & 2013).

Ashley was born on a U.S. military base in Germany and moved to Alaska where she learned to skate. She made several other stops before making a perfect landing in Alexandria, Virginia.

Ashley is 22 years old.

CURT TOMASEVICZ: SHELBY

Curt Tomasevicz is the one and only Cornhusker athlete in Sochi. He grew up in the town of Shelby, about an hour drive from Omaha. Currently 33 years old and a former football player for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, he has competed in bobsled since 2004.

His team finished just out of medal contention in the four-man event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. He made the US team in both the two-man and four-man events at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where they captured gold in the 4-man bobsled, ending a 62 year US medal drought.
